Louisiana Bans Cash Transactions on Used Goods!

The Louisiana House Bill 195 updates the original bill passed in 2011. The updated version of this bill makes it illegal for any cash transactions for the payment of junk or used or secondhand property. In addition, the seller must also make a detailed description of all items purchased. Payment shall be made in the form of check, electronic transfers, or money order issued to the seller of the junk or used or secondhand property and made payable to the name and address of the seller.  All payments made by check, electronic transfers, or money order shall be reported 16 separately in the daily reports required by R.S. 37:1866. 

In other words, say hello to the “digital cash world.”  Folks, soon it will be totally illegal to have any cash on your person.  Louisiana is just the first state of many states to follow.  Isn’t “Big Brother” great?

Here is something else about Louisiana that many individuals do not know. First, Louisiana does not follow English common law but French law. Second, a jury trial in Louisiana does not require unanimous consent. Instead, it is simply a majority!
